Tucidinostat, also known as Chidamide, is a pioneering cancer treatment developed by Chipscreen Biosciences. It is the first oral subtype-selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor, specifically targeting certain HDAC subtypes to address abnormal epigenetic regulation in cancer cells. This unique mechanism alters gene expression, inhibits cell cycles, and induces apoptosis in tumor cells.
Approved for both solid and hematological cancers, Tucidinostat has achieved notable milestones. In 2014, it received approval in China for peripheral T-cell lymphoma treatment and was included in the national medical insurance in 2017. In 2021, it became the first Chinese-developed drug to gain marketing approval abroad when Japan authorized its use for adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma.
Tucidinostat enhances cellular immunity, induces tumor stem cell differentiation, and reverses epithelial-mesenchymal transition, offering potential in combating drug resistance, preventing metastasis, and reducing cancer recurrence. It therefore represents a significant advancement in epigenetic cancer therapy.
