Release Date: 21-Jul-2024
Benmelstobart, a novel fully humanized anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibody developed by Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical, has demonstrated significant achievements in cancer treatment. In April 2022, it received breakthrough therapy designation in combination with anlotinib for recurrent or metastatic endometrial cancer. By January 2023, its new drug application for first-line treatment of small cell lung cancer was accepted.
The drug’s transformative potential was further recognized when it was granted priority review status for endometrial cancer treatment in February 2024. A major milestone was achieved in May 2024 with its first marketing approval for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) in combination with anlotinib, carboplatin, and etoposide.
Notably, the ETER701 study results revealed that this combination therapy significantly prolonged median overall survival in ES-SCLC patients, achieving the longest median progression-free survival and overall survival in published data to date. This breakthrough positions Benmelstobart as a potentially game-changing treatment in oncology, offering new hope for patients with difficult-to-treat cancers.
